I created this work for school. It’s about how someone can look different on the outside as opposed to how they feel on the inside; be it lonely or sad or whatever. When you look deeper into their eyes you see the truth.
The eye obviously symbolises the window to the soul as the cliche’ goes and the blink makes it more personal. As if you are staring into a real person’s eye.
The manikin symbolises that the person feels like a puppet and not a person. Something without life. As it gets swayed back and forth by life the bond that makes it lifeless breaks and she is forced to become a real person as she falls. When she hits the floor she feels helpless and sad. Feeling bare and unable to handle the “real” life.
I was just trying to illustrate how people seem one way on the surface and feel another way deep down. :)
I drew a line with charcoal and then took a picture before drawing or rubbing out another line and taking a photo again. Then in the end I put together all the photos and added the music.
